BREAKING NEWS: Update on shooting at local residence – Crossroads Today

VICTORIA, Texas – On Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2021 at approximately 6:54 p.m., Victoria Police Department officers responded to a residence in the 700 block of E. Airline Road in reference to a shots-fired call.

When officers arrived, two men were located inside the residence with apparent gunshot wounds. According to VPD, Keanu Sanchez, 25 of Victoria, sustained non-life threatening gunshot wounds. Sanchez was then transported to a local hospital.

The second male, Jacob Escobedo, 19 of Brady, Texas, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Victoria Police Department detectives worked with crime scene technicians to process the scene. Through preliminary investigation, it was determined that multiple suspects, including the deceased Escobedo, arrived at the location. They then forced entry into the home, which resulted in a gunfire exchange between the intruders and Sanchez. The other suspects fled the scene before police officers arrived.

On Thursday, Sept. 23, 2021, the Travis County Medical Examiner’s office conducted an autopsy. The office determined Escobedo’s cause of death to be multiple gunshot wounds.

This is an ongoing investigation, and all leads are being pursued at this time.
