Texarkana Texas police are investigating a homicide in the 6200 block of Summerhill Place. Officers responded to the home about 11:30 a.m. Thursday and found the body of Jennifer Garrett, 27.

TEXARKANA, Texas — A man is in custody on a murder charge after his girlfriend’s body was found Thursday.
Travis Turner, 27, was arrested after police discovered the body of Jennifer Garrett, 27, while conducting a welfare check at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at a home in the 6200 block of Summerhill Place, said Shawn Vaughn, spokesman for the Texarkana Texas Police Department.
Summerhill Place is located off of Clear Creek Drive in northern Texarkana.
Garrett’s body has been sent to Dallas for an autopsy.
No other information was immediately available.
“It’s still very early in the investigation,” Vaughn said.
