TAYLOR CO, Wis. (WAOW)– The Taylor County Sheriff’s Office has announced that the parents of the child hit and killed by a train in the Village of Lublin could face neglect charges.
The sheriff’s office said they will be requesting charges of neglecting a child with death as a consequence of that neglect against Kyle Bratland and Natasha Bratland.
They say their investigation is close to wrapping up and through it they found that the children in the residence were commonly seen without adult supervision, and playing in unsafe areas.
Residents in the area told a detective with the sheriff’s office that it was common to see the children playing in the streets throughout the village, as well as playing on roof tops and railroad tracks.
Police say it was determined that leading up to the fatal accident, the two year old was not under any supervision and was seen walking down the street in only a diaper.
The sheriff’s office says the train was operating in a safe and normal condition before the accident.
